For some, Cochon is just another food event in a long line of all you can eat food events. However, I'm here to tell you that simply is not true. I've been to Cochon twice before and what I vividly remember is chugging bourbon straight from the bottle and doing an army crawl through the Four Seasons outdoor patio to eavesdrop on gossip that Cochon is a pork lover's absolute dream event. It's everything SOBEWFF wishes it could be without the sand in your shoes, giant crowds and obnoxious tourists.

The way Cochon works is as follows: 5 of Miami's best chefs will compete for the title of "Prince Of Porc" and go on to the National competition. Each chef will get one whole hog, must cook it nose to tail and prepare six different dishes. This is NOT your Tio Cuco's lechon. This year’s competing chefs include Anthony LePape of Ritz-Carlton South Beach, Xavier Torres of Drunken Dragon, Alex Chang of Vagabond, Michael Fiorello of Beachcraft and Diego Oka of La Mar by Gastón Acurio. So expecting simple lechon de caja china from these guys would be a huge mistake.

In addition to being able to sample all sorts of pork dishes, there will also be a TarTare bar, an artisan cheese bar, a seafood/oyster shelf and a ramen bar. For dessert, there will be a Pie Pop-Up before the award ceremony to help you close out the night.

Clearly, this is a ton of food and you'll need something to wash it down with. Luckily, Cochon has you covered. There will be a local barkeep competition, welcome punch, wine, tequila, mezcal, wine, bourbon and did I mention wine?

This epic event is going down at the South Beach Ritz-Carlton on April 3, 2016 at 5pm. VIP tickets get you in an hour early and costs $200 per person and GA tickets cost $125 per person, but lucky for you I'm giving away a pair of GA tickets right here! For more event details and to purchase your own tickets, go here.

Giveaway ends 3/31 and 1 lucky winner will be randomly selected. MUST BE 21 YEARS OLD AND OVER TO WIN.

    Good Luck!

Hello Cari, I would love to win the Cochon555 VIP tickets.
One of the Chef's competing this year, Xavier from DD, is a Johnson & Wales Alumni. I am an alumni myself and would tickets to go and support my Alma Mater.

I know you know of JWU, as in 2014 you won a ZEST Award as best food blogger. I must mention I vote every year and that is how I discovered you, voted for you and have followed you ever since.

Please grant me to chance to experience Cochon555 and rep JWU! #PeroLikePlease ([email protected])

My name is Cari and I'm the person behind FatgirlHedonist.com. I'm born and raised in Miami (Hialeah if you'd like specifics) and proud Latina. I'm a single mom to a very curious toddler. I completed a culinary program in high school that made my love of food blossom, but my career went in a very different direction. No matter what turns my life has taken, cooking, baking and eating have always been three of my favorite activities. I'm lucky enough that I can have this blog as an outlet for those three passions.
