- 4 oz Guava nectar
- 2 oz Tequila
- 1 oz Cointreau
- 1 oz Fresh lime juice
- 1 oz simple syrup
- Sugar sprinkles
- Lime and guava slices for garnishes
- Cup of ice
Prepare your glass by running a slice of lime around the rim of each glass and dip the edge into a small amount of sugar sprinkles.
Add the guava nectar, tequila, cointreau, lime juice, simple syrup and ice to a cocktail shaker. Shake for 15 seconds.
Strain into a prepared margarita glass and add your lime and guava slices for garnish.
- Fresh guava vs. store bought nectar: If you're able to get fresh guavas, you can make juice out of them and use that for these margaritas. I opt for using guava nectar becuase it's more readily accessible and much more convenient.
- Sugar vs salt: Classic margaritas use salt on the rim, but with fruity drinks or for people who don’t like salt, using sugar instead is a great alternative.
- Chill the glasses. This drink tastes best when it is extra cold. If you have the time, chill the margarita glasses in the fridge.
