    frozen mango chamoy margarita

I love a good margarita and this one is no different! Also known as a mangonada margarita this drink is sweet, tart and spicy!

    Ingredients

Use a clear shot of the ingredients for this recipe, prepped, and labeled if necessary. Insert the ingredients into the list below, omitting quantities.

    ingredients for mango chamoy margarita
    Frozen Mango Chunks
    Limes
    Tequila
    Grand Marnier
    Simple Syrup
    Ice
    Chamoy
    Tajin

    Instructions

To your blender, add the frozen mango, tequila, grand marnier, lime juice, simple syrup and ice. Blend for 30-45 seconds until smooth.

    blender filled with margarita ingredients

Run a lime wedge along the edge of your margarita glass to wet the rim and act as a glue

Pour the Tajín onto a salad plate and dip the rims of your margarita goblets into the Tajín to coat it thoroughly.

Pour 1 ounce of chamoy into each margarita glass and swirl your glass to spread the chamoy throughout the glass.

Pour your frozen mango margarita into the prepared glass and garnish with a mile wedge.

    Substitutions

    • If you don't have Cointreau available, you can use Triple Sec
    • If you're not a fan of simple syrup, opt for Agave instead.
    • Don't have any fresh limes handy? You can use for bottled lime juice instead.
    • Don't like tajin on your glass rim? Go the traditional route and use salt instead.

    Variations

    • Spicy mango margarita: If you like your mango margarita extra spicy and a splash of your favorite hot sauce into the blender.
    • Pineapple or Strawberry Chamoy margarita: Replace the frozen mango with your choice of frozen fruit for a different kind of margarita

    Equipment

For this you'll need a blender and margarita glasses

    Top tip

Fresh mango vs. store bought nectar: If you're able to get fresh mangoes, you can peel and chop them then place them in the freezer over night. If you don't have access to fresh mangoes, frozen mangoes from your freezer section will do!
Tajin vs salt: Classic margaritas use salt on the rim, but with Chamoy mangonadas Tajin is a must! If you don't like tajin, you can opt for a salt rim.
Chill the glasses. This drink tastes best when it is extra cold. If you have the time, chill the margarita glasses in the fridge.

My name is Cari and I'm the person behind FatgirlHedonist.com. I'm born and raised in Miami (Hialeah if you'd like specifics) and proud Latina. I'm a single mom to a very curious toddler. I completed a culinary program in high school that made my love of food blossom, but my career went in a very different direction. No matter what turns my life has taken, cooking, baking and eating have always been three of my favorite activities. I'm lucky enough that I can have this blog as an outlet for those three passions.
