PSL season is here! In many parts of the country, it is still over 100 degrees outside so this iced pumpkin spice latte is the perfect way to indulge in fall flavors while cooling off from the heat.

This pumpkin spice coffee is made with real pumpkin and real spices, so no sneaky additives, preservatives and corn syrup like you'd get at Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks.

Why you'll love this iced pumpkin latte?

    • Perfect for when you want to enjoy the flavors of fall, but it's 105 degrees outside.
    • It's easy to make.
    • Iced coffee with warm spices.
    • Copycat Starbucks pumpkin spice latte made at home for a fraction of the cost.
    • Taste of fall without any artificial flavors.

What equipment will you need to make this iconic pumpkin spice latte?

    • Espresso maker like this moka pot or this one.
    • A handheld milk frother

What are the ingredients in this iced PSL recipe?

    • pure pumpkin puree
    • Choice of milk (I use 2% cow's milk, but skim milk, soy milk, unsweetened almond milk or cashew milk are all possible alternatives)
    • Cinnamon
    • Nutmeg
    • Cloves
    • Cardamom
    • Allspice
    • Espresso coffee
    • Whipped cream

Instructions to make this homemade iced pumpkin spice latte

First you'll need to make 3 ounces or shots of espresso coffee in your espresso machine.

Into your serving glass, add your pumpkin purée and spices.

Add espresso to the glass and mix using a frother until the pumpkin puree and coffee are completely combined.

Blend ingredients well and then add your ice cubes and your favorite milk.

Lastly, top with whipped cream and an extra pinch of cinnamon for garnish.

How do you make a hot version of this homemade pumpkin spice latte?

Want a warm pumpkin spice latte instead of iced? For this you'll simply omit the ice and steam your milk to your desired temperature. Starbucks typically serves the PSL at 150 degrees.

Instead of a tall drinking glass, serve your latte in your favorite mug and there you have it.

Variations and substitutions for this iced pumpkin spice latte recipe

    • Don't have all of the spices handy? Swap out the different spices for 1 ½ teaspoons of store-bought pumpkin pie spice blend.
    • Want your iced latte a little sweeter? Add in some extra brown sugar, agave or maple syrup to your personal preference.
    • Don't have espresso coffee available? Opt for your favorite cold brew coffee or strong brewed coffee.
    • Want a dairy free iced latte? Use a dairy-free milk like oat milk or coconut milk and dairy free whipped cream.
    • Don't want to use store bought whipped cream? You can either omit it completely or make your own.

Hot tips for this pumpkin spice coffee

Careful when adding your whipped cream, too much will make your latte overflow!

Be sure to pour the hot espresso over the pumpkin puree and mix immediately to ensure the two blend completely and theres no clumps left behind.

My name is Cari and I'm the person behind FatgirlHedonist.com. I'm born and raised in Miami (Hialeah if you'd like specifics) and proud Latina. I'm a single mom to a very curious toddler. I completed a culinary program in high school that made my love of food blossom, but my career went in a very different direction. No matter what turns my life has taken, cooking, baking and eating have always been three of my favorite activities. I'm lucky enough that I can have this blog as an outlet for those three passions.
