It's the new year and the starbucks menu changes again to add my favorite seasonal drink, their pistachio latte.

Why you'll love this homemade version of the starbucks pistachio latte

    • Easy recipe with simple ingredients
    • It combines cozy flavors of sweet pistachio with bold espresso for the perfect latte.
    • This pistachio coffee drink can be enjoyed hot or cold

    What is pistachio cream?

Pistachio cream is indeed an Italian sweet cream or paste, often made of about 50% pistachios, milk, butter, sugar, and sometimes white chocolate. It's very similar in texture to Nutella.

What are the ingredients in this pistachio latte?

    • Pistachio cream
    • Your choice of milk
    • Espresso coffee
    • Whipped cream (optional)
    • real pistachios

Instructions for this pistachio latte recipe

    • First you'll need to make 2 ounces or shots of espresso coffee.
    • Then, you'll need to heat and froth milk of choice. For this you can use a milk steamer
    • In your 12oz mug of choice, you'll add your pistachio.
    • Pour your strong espresso coffee into the mug.
    • using a handheld milk frother, mix the pistachio sauce and espresso shot until combined.
    • Slowly pour in your frothed milk into the espresso.
    • Lastly, top your latte with whipped cream and sprinkle on the crushed pistachios.
    • Sit back and enjoy your warm pistachio coffee drink.

What equipment will you need to make this pistachio latte at home?

    • Espresso machine like this one or this one.
    • A handheld milk frother

    Hot tip

    • Careful when adding your whipped cream, too much will make your latte overflow!
    • Be sure to use espresso that has been brewed within 5 minutes of making the latte. Otherwise, the espresso may develop a bitter flavor.

Variations for this homemade starbucks pistachio latte

Can't find pistachio cream or butter? You can get your pistachio flavoring by opting for pistachio syrup.

Don't have an espresso maker? Use a moka pot instead.

Want a nondairy starbucks' pistachio latte? Opt instead for almond milk, coconut milk, oat milk or your choice of plant-based milk.

Want to sweeten up your latte? Although pistachio cream is sweet, you can add additional sweeteners like maple syrup, simple syrup or agave.

How can I make this seasonal pistachio latte iced?

If you'd like to enjoy this as an iced pistachio latte, do not froth your milk. Add your pistachio cream and espresso to a glass and stir using a frother until completely combined. Then add your ice and cold milk. Top with whipped cream and crushed pistachios.

My name is Cari and I'm the person behind FatgirlHedonist.com. I'm born and raised in Miami (Hialeah if you'd like specifics) and proud Latina. I'm a single mom to a very curious toddler. I completed a culinary program in high school that made my love of food blossom, but my career went in a very different direction. No matter what turns my life has taken, cooking, baking and eating have always been three of my favorite activities. I'm lucky enough that I can have this blog as an outlet for those three passions.
