    What's better than a delicious cocktail? One that is incredibly easy to make! This Cuban daiquiri requires only 3 ingredients and is absolutely refreshing.

    Origins of the Daiquiri

    This cocktail made popular by writer Ernest Hemingway dates back to to Spanish-American War. The first reference to it is by American Engineer Jennings Cox in 1896. The name of the daiquiri comes from a nearby small town of Daiquiri.

    However, it is wildly believed that some variation of this drink has been in existence in the Caribbean long before Cox named it. Cocktails consisting of limes, rum and sugar like El Draque named after Sir Francis Drake in the 1500's in Cuba.

    Ingredients needed for this Cuban daiquiri

    • Cuban white rum
    • Simple syrup
    • Freshly squeezed lime juice

    Directions for this classic daiquiri recipe

    • In a cocktail shaker add ice, sugar syrup, lime juice and Cuban rum. Cover and shake.

    Strain the ice and pour cocktail into chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a lime wedge if desired

    Variations/substitutions for this classic Cuban cocktail

    • Craving a frozen daiquiri? Place the ingredients along with ¼ cup of ice in a blender and pulse until well combined.
    • Want a frozen strawberry daiquiri? Place the ingredients along with ¼ cup of frozen strawberries in a blender and pulse until well combined.
    • Don't have fresh lime juice? You can use bottled instead.
    • Don't own coupe glasses? Pour your classic drink into a martini glass or your favorite cocktail glass.
    • Don't have Cuban rum? Bacardi Rum is a good alternative. Dark rum can also be used in a pinch.
    • Some people like their daiquiris with some Maraschino, if you're one of these people add a quarter-ounce of maraschino liqueur.
    • Don't have white granulated sugar for the simple syrup? Use brown sugar instead.

    Ingredients

    • 2 oz Cuban white rum
    • 1 oz simple syrup
    • 1 oz lime juice freshly squeezed

    Instructions
